The fireplace is often the focal point of a room. There so many different options to dress up your fireplace -whether it’s tile, stone or cement, to name a few. Below I’ve gathered a few of my favorites. Whichever you choose always keep in mind that not only can a fireplace be a conversation piece, but also a family space that you often gather around. If only I had enough rooms to place all these gorgeous fireplaces in!

When considering countertops for your kitchen or bath, consider some alternatives to carra marble. While Carrara marble adds beauty, sophistication and value to your home-it can be very pricey and high matinenace. Let’s just be realistic for a moment-your little one spills red juice all over your beautiful marble counter tops-you rush to clean it up. Regular marble countertops need proper cleaning, polishing and sealing to protect it often. Below I have listed some beautiful, affordable and durable alternatives ( psssst check out the new laminate calaccatta marble countertops!!! My favorite! )
1. Cambria Quartz Torquay
This is a beautiful alternative to marble, but is made of quartz.
2. Helix Silestone -quartz
Photo cred. Silestone USA
While there are a few other Silestone counter tops- this one caught my eye the most.
3. Princess White Granite ( actually quartzite)
Lastly my favorite and least expensive is…laminate ( yes, I really did just say laminate!) This stuff has come a long ways – and one company does a great job-
3. Formica Calacatta Marble – you can’t even really tell its laminate until you touch it! Did I mention it’s basically maintenance free and very durable!
Recently I was contacted to style and decorate a space for my sister-in-law. She recently moved to a small loft apartment in a big city. Below is a peek at the design board I worked on. Keeping in mind her small space living and style I designed a home she could live, work and entertain in. Using features such as-folding wall scones, storage ottomans, wall shelves, nesting side tables, and a neat adjustable height desk that turns into a dining room table for entertaining.

I often take on projects…well ok if you ask the Mr. He will say I take on TOO many projects! That’s what creative minds do-am I right? Last fall my son and I came across a rather large estate sale, I’m going to be honest and say, it took me a few days to rummage through it all! One of the purchases I made was an intricate vintage dresser, it was a steal for under $60!!
With the chaos of opening a store front ( did I mention that yet?!- I’m super excited you guys! ) and the busy holiday season, I haven’t had a chance to paint it until now.
I want you to know that anyone can do this-it’s really easy to paint older furniture with chalk paint. My favorite chalk paint to use is Annie Sloan, however I was rather anxious-if you know me this is not a surprise! I also use Rustoleum Chalk Paint in Linen White or Gray. The colors are very similar almost identical to Annie Sloan, and at a lower price. OK so I though it would be fun to post a photo of the dresser and have all my fellow followers vote for the wining color. So below is the before and after…I haven’t decided if I will change out or paint the hardware, I do really think the antique brass is perfection! What do you all think??? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
